February Finds

Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Happy February! Can you believe it's here? My how the time flies?!

We would like to help greet this new month by introducing you to one of our long time favorite artists Kim Wyly!

Kim Wyly grew up in McAllen, Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas and has studied bronze sculpture and painting at SMU.  Kim has enjoyed painting for 15 years and has held exhibitions at Cerulean Gallery in Dallas and Elliott Yeary Gallery in Aspen. www.elliottyeary.com.

Artist's Statement:
"I enjoy working in different mediums of art, including photography, bronze sculpture, and oil painting. I've been influenced by several artists, including Chagal, Basquiat, and Giacometti. I often use symbolism to reflect my feelings and dreams, and as a way to transfer my subconscious mind to the canvas. Sometimes I use art as a form of journaling. Each painting is an exercise in working through emotions or experiences. Art, my family, and my faith in God have helped me through some of the most difficult times in my life. Art parallels life, in that it is a journey, and I am learning through the process. Art has taught me to be patient and to live in the moment."

Check out some of her amazing paintings below.
